In this post, there's not much text, most pictures :) Enjoy!
♣ Sunday ♣ We woke up early on Sunday morning. This day we decided to go to the west coast of Ireland, something we looked forward to tremendously. The highlight was of course to visit the Cliffs of Moher.
We went by taxi to the city to Discover Ireland Tourist Centre. This time we got a super nice driver, he was really great! He would also be our driver on Tuesday morning when we would * sob sob * go to the airport to go home.
When we arrived at the tourism center, we had to wait a while before the guide Caroline from MacCoole Tours came. In between, we also got to hear when a half-full Frenchwoman chatted with a very hoarse voice in terribly bad English and explained that she had got her phone stolen and that she would go on a trip to the Cliffs of MoTher, but she had no papers with her and she did not remember what the company was called that she´d travel with.
Besides us, there were mostly Americans on the tour + a few Japanese, Germans and Spaniards. Caroline was very nice. She asked what we had done in Dublin so far, we replied, Westlife and then she asked the Americans if they knew the band, but they looked most uncomfortable out, haha. So probably they did not know who they were.
When the group was assembled, we walked a bit down the Liffey, where our bus was coming. Caroline told beforehand about what we had to wait for the tour, talked about the company and a little bit about the history of Ireland. She also spoke Irish Gaelic :) Of course, we had no idea what she was saying what so ever, but it sounded fine anyway!
When the bus arrived and we had sat us right, began the 2 ½ hour journey to Galway, where we would change buses and continue the journey to the village Oughtmama, located in the heart of the Burren, where we would visit a family farm, where Caroline inter alia grown up, as well as her cousin John would be our guide. We walked the way up to the top of the mountain and the view was phenomenal!
In addition John was followed by two others. I remember the course does not name them now, one of them hetter Darren or something such, a typical Irish guy's name anyway! Our trio was given a nickname of one of these two, Team Viking * lol * He was otherwise hysterically funny!
As we walked down the mountain, we visited the lamb Spota (Irish word for spot), who has been rebuffed by his mother and who now had to be fed by bottle. Angie tried to feed him. Also, we enjoy a heavenly good apple pie with cream and delicious coffee. All ingredients are grown on the farm.
We were also charm of a puppy named Coco. She was so cute, and she knew it too, she was a little diva!
I have to also mention that we were incredibly lucky with the weather this Sunday! There was brilliant sunshine and warm! It was fun and it was said that this sunny day was the only one that Ireland would get this summer * hihi *
When we were finished at the farm, we continued our journey. The last few kilometers to the Cliffs of Moher was very twisty and curvy, like a winding road and there were some times that you have to gasp! But the view was better the higher up we got!
Because it was such nice weather, the bus driver gave us extra time at the cliffs, which was appreciated tremendously, of course!
The rocks then ... Wow, it can not describe how beautiful it was! We had been looking forward to it immensely, and once we were there was so amazingly taken to ... Yeah, it was moved!
It is one of the most beautiful places on earth and not even the most beautiful pictures can do them justice! I definitely want to return to the rocks!
When we were almost to the edge and stared down at 214 meters ... It was quite definitely kickass awesome feeling!
When we had finished enjoying the rocks, the weather and the fantastic view, continued our bus trip. We would stay in the cozy village of Doolin for lunch in an equally cozy pub. All three took part * & * amazed lamb! I was skeptical because I heard from home that lamb class is often expensive and taste like cardigan ... But not in Ireland! =) It was great tender and tasty!
After lunch stop in Doolin, we continued back to Galway, where we aim to have jumped off the bus had an hour to spend before our bus was leaving home to Dublin again. Although we did not see as much of Galway, fell on me really in the taste.
On the way back to Dublin, I got to sleep in proper, which was nice.
♣ Monday ♣ Monday Our last day in Dublin was spent to wander up and down Grafton Street shopping district extraordinere in Dublin. We tasted the Italian ice cream, gelato, which was heavenly good, and we also went to Starbucks.
We also went to the hilarious Viking Splash Tour, a guided tour around Dublin that follows in the Vikings' trail. To make it extra fun, we would now and then scream at tourists and tourist buses, hehe. The guide we had was also hilarious! We also had to go out on an artificial lake and we were asked to see U2's studio and a chess-checkered deluxe hotel that did not have time to open before it went bankrupt.
After the Viking Splash Tour, followed by another highlight of the trip: a visit to the beautiful and luxurious seaside town of Malahide. It was so nice and cozy that it is not wise, definitely worth a visit!
The main purpose of the visit was so ready to go for star spotting but we weren´t that lucky of course! We also went down to Malahide beach and we walked around and looked at all the nice houses. That said, celebrity spotting!
When we got back to Dublin, shopping was on the agenda. It burned to a rather large hole in your wallet *moahaha*
♣ Tuesday ♣ It was very early wake-up for us on Sunday morning. We wrote a greeting to Mary in the guestbook and waited for our taxi.
When we had just started in the taxi, I thought that I would look up my passport and information to the check-in. But I found no passport *panic* and pulse raced probably up to 300 ... Fortunately, I found it, it was just hiding in my "big" bag. It ended the well but still ...!
When we arrived at the airport, we went directly and checked into themselves via those "computers" that are piled up everywhere. But then came the next problem ... Ammi noticed she had the key to the room she lived in, in her pocket. This meant that we were forced to go back to the B & B to return the key. This was not painless because we got the world's worst driver, who barely spoke English as well as he drove the wrong way, before we told him. "Oh you´re going there, then this isn´t the right way" It was an expensive trip. It annoyed the hell out of me.
When we checked in, caught the mood for me to fall in the bottom for a while, guess it was my non-morning person-personality who played tricks on me + the whole choir, I "almost" botched away my passport and the room-key. .. But it came back fairly quickly.
When we passed through security, we looked up a coffee shop where we bought breakfast. We sat a long while before we did the toilet and then we'd take us to our gate. Although we had relatively little time, could stress curl up and it would go quickly and suddenly. Moreover, it was far to the gate so I was quite sick lot of lactic acid in the legs before we arrived. Ouch ouch ...!
Eventually we start to board the plane and we had to say Slán grá na hÉireann! to our beloved Ireland.
